MIAMI, FL—April 30, 2026— Amazon Music is bringing its livestream series, Amazon Music City Sessions, to Puerto Rico for the first time, debuting Tuesday, May 5 at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT / 7 PM CT (CDMX) with urban music artist Yandel in a live, one-time-only performance. Filmed in San Juan, the multi-episode series will spotlight Puerto Rican talent and culture on a global stage, marking a new phase of continued investment in Puerto Rico from Amazon Music. Episodes will be broadcast live globally in the Amazon Music app, as well as on Prime Video, and Twitch, bringing Puerto Rican artists and culture to audiences worldwide.
Known for delivering exclusive performances, artist storytelling, and intimate fan experiences, Amazon Music City Sessions has previously featured artists including Kings of Leon, Benson Boone, Jelly Roll, Sech, and Tim McGraw. With its expansion into Puerto Rico, Yandel joins a roster of established alumni. Each performance is designed as a live, moment-driven experience, available only as it happens.
“I am honored to be the first artist to open the new Amazon Music City Sessions series in Puerto Rico, bringing visibility to the island and its artists,” said Yandel. “I carry the island with me in every performance, and I’m proud to share our culture with fans around the world while giving back to the community that shaped me.”
In connection with the launch, Amazon Music and Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon's cloud computing and AI company, will support Escuela Miguel Meléndez Muñoz in Cayey, Puerto Rico, the public high school Yandel attended, through a student coding workshop and a donation to enhance the school’s learning environment with supplies and technology.
These efforts build on the ongoing collaboration between Amazon Music and Rimas Entertainment, focused on creating new opportunities for Puerto Rican artists and communities. As part of this effort, Amazon Music City Sessions expands into Puerto Rico to bring Puerto Rican artists and genres to a global stage through live moments.
Alongside Amazon Music City Sessions: Puerto Rico, Amazon is launching ‘comPRa Local’, now live on Amazon.com. The storefront increases visibility for Puerto Rican-owned businesses and culture-rooted products, creating new opportunities for local entrepreneurs to reach customers in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Customers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico can shop in English and Spanish via Amazon.com and the Amazon mobile shopping app. Puerto Rican businesses interested in participating can register to sell with Amazon and join the storefront here.
“Bringing Amazon Music City Sessions to Puerto Rico is about creating real-time connections between artists and fans, and giving Puerto Rican talent a stage to reach a global audience,” said Ramón Fragoso, Head of U.S. Latin at Amazon Music. “At the same time, comPRa Local opens new doors for local businesses to grow beyond the island. Together, these efforts reflect how we are connecting culture and community in a way that creates lasting impact both on and off the stage.”
“Our relationship with Rimas continues to evolve in ways that reflect what’s possible when artists and platforms work together with purpose,” said Rocío Guerrero, Director of Music, Latin-Iberia at Amazon Music. “What began as a defining moment, a record-breaking livestream with Bad Bunny that brought Puerto Rican culture to a global audience, has grown into something much bigger, creating new opportunities for artists like Yandel and expanding that impact across communities on the island. This is about more than a moment; it’s about creating lasting impact both on and off the stage.”
Amazon’s broader investments on the island include collaborations with local organizations and infrastructure that support everyday access to essential goods and services. In October 2025, Amazon expanded its collaboration with 787Hub, a Puerto Rican-owned logistics company, launching three new customer pickup counters in Bayamón, Guaynabo, and Ponce, in addition to the flagship counter in Carolina. These locations provide customers with more delivery options and faster service across the island. Beyond everyday convenience, these pickup locations play an important role in supporting communities in the aftermath of natural disasters by helping ensure continued access to essential items when they are needed most.
As part of these efforts, in 2025 Amazon Community Engagement partnered with Fundación Rimas and Virtus Puerto Rico to expand access to sports, arts, and STEM programs for students across the island. Beyond these initiatives, Amazon remains dedicated to being a great neighbor by supporting community focused organizations.
