JAKARTA, August 6, 2026 — POSe today announced it compressed eight months of engineering work into nine weeks using Kiro, a generative AI-powered development tool from Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Indonesian fintech, which supports over 60,000 merchants across 31 provinces, modernized eleven core applications and finished six months ahead of schedule.
POSe provides businesses with smart EDC (Electronic Data Capture) machines and digital Point of Sales (POS) systems that accept QRIS, the country's national QR standard, alongside credit and debit cards and digital wallets. It also simplifies merchant management through its centralized multi-branch management system, which lets businesses run all their outlets from a single dashboard, instantly syncing menus, pricing, and promotions across every location.
With over 108,000 payment terminals processing more than 28 million transactions daily, POSe needs its applications to keep pace. But years of inconsistent coding practices across teams had created fragmentation, slowed delivery, and complicated regulatory compliance.
Kiro was the solution. Using Kiro, the development teams were able to modernize apps such as POSe’s POS cashier systems, Payment Point Online Banking (PPOB), inventory, ticketing, and field-service tools. Kiro helped the team refactor and streamline years of legacy code, creating a cleaner, more maintainable foundation in a fraction of the time it would have taken to do it manually. Through Kiro, POSe’s team were able to speed up modernizing apps on average from three weeks to three days, an 80% reduction.
"Indonesia's payments market moves incredibly fast, and our commitment has always been to move with it on behalf of our merchants," said Erwin Fransiscus, Chief Business and Technology Officer at POSe (PT Karya Jaya Solusi). "Modernizing our core systems quickly is part of a deliberate vision to keep ahead of what our merchants need. With Kiro, we can build at the pace our markets demand."
From Proof of Concept to Full Rollout
POSe first started by testing Kiro in February 2026. Initial success gave the team the confidence to roll it out across the entire development team just one month later, with support from AWS Partner Metrodata Electronics. The move standardized all 50-plus developers onto a single, centrally managed environment, with a common standard, consolidated billing and clear visibility into how AI tools are used across the team.
Now, before writing any code, developers use Kiro's spec-driven approach to define requirements, designs, and task lists for each application, to ensure scope is agreed upon before any building begins. Teams use its generative AI-created steering documents to help ensure they stay aligned to shared standards and connected Kiro to their existing tools through its integration protocols and AI models.
"Kiro is built to help development teams turn ideas into production-ready software faster, without losing quality or control as they scale," said Anthony Amni, Country Manager, AWS Indonesia. "POSe's modernization is a great example of how generative AI can help developers clear tech debt by helping to bring engineering rigor to agentic development. By bringing their whole team onto Kiro, they modernized an entire application portfolio in weeks."
Building on this momentum, POSe will use Kiro for all coding, documentation, and code reviews going forward, and plans to extend AI-assisted practices to more teams and roles.
