Montefiore Health System today announced it has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its strategic cloud provider. Collaborating with AWS will advance Montefiore’s digital healthcare ecosystem, leveraging technology to enhance the high-quality, patient-centered care it provides across the diverse communities it serves.
This initiative aims to transition the majority of Montefiore’s technology portfolio including its electronic health record (Epic) applications to the AWS Cloud. This transition will bring resiliency and innovation to Montefiore technology in addition to improving scalability, enhancing data security, and driving cost efficiencies. AWS provides enhanced capacity for innovation, enabling rapid deployment and testing of new healthcare solutions. Additionally, it brings opportunities with AI and other advanced technologies for analytics, collaboration, research, and professional education.
"AWS is at the forefront of cloud innovation, and this partnership is an important step in advancing healthcare delivery and enhancing patient care,” said Deepesh Chandra, Senior Vice President, Chief Digital and Information Officer, Montefiore Einstein. "Migrating to the cloud is a fundamental part of Montefiore’s ongoing technology transformation, allowing us to build on the digital advancements we’ve already implemented to provide a more agile, scalable, and secure ecosystem."
At Montefiore Health System, staying ahead in a digital landscape means embracing modern technology to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance patient care. With hospitals becoming increasingly connected, integrating these technologies is key to enhancing system reliability, ensuring seamless access to information, and supporting the smooth delivery of patient care. As a cloud provider, AWS provides robust reliability, security, and data privacy, as well as resilient EHR architecture for continuous access to medical records, helping healthcare organizations operate more efficiently and adapt to changing needs.
"We are proud to work with forward-thinking healthcare organizations like Montefiore that are adopting cloud technology to modernize care delivery," said Allyson Fryhoff, Managing Director of Global Healthcare & Life Sciences at AWS. "Unlocking the power of healthcare data starting with running Epic on AWS will enable end-to-end improvements, from enhancing operational efficiency to opening new possibilities in clinical decision-making, paving the way for more accessible and patient-centered care."
In January, Montefiore Health System announced a separate collaboration with Amazon One Medical to expand access to high-quality coordinated primary and specialty care in Westchester county and surrounding areas in New York.
