NEW YORK — May 14, 2025 — Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com, Inc. company (NASDAQ: AMZN), today announced that Marsh McLennan has selected AWS as its preferred cloud provider to accelerate its digital transformation and cloud-first strategy in a multi-year initiative that aims to increase operational efficiency, enhance security, and drive innovation across the Company’s four global businesses — Marsh, Guy Carpenter, Mercer and Oliver Wyman.
Marsh McLennan will migrate the majority of its global on-premises infrastructure to AWS, enabled by a multi-year agreement. The migration will significantly reduce Marsh McLennan’s physical data center footprint while enhancing its operational efficiency and increasing its agility and ability to respond quickly to evolving business needs. Some workloads will remain on premises in line with Marsh McLennan's data management obligations to other entities.
The initial migration has already driven a number of efficiencies, including enabling real-time infrastructure deployment times through Infrastructure As Code (IaC), reducing processing times for some of the Company’s large and complex applications, and reducing time to scale up infrastructure from hours to minutes.
Additionally, Marsh McLennan is working closely with Amazon to enhance the capabilities of LenAI, its proprietary GenAI assistant. LenAI, developed by its Dublin Innovation Center, currently serves Marsh McLennan’s more than 90,000 colleagues worldwide, handling over 700,000 queries per week, and saves an estimated one million productivity hours annually.
"Our clients are facing increasingly complex challenges that require agile, data-driven responses," said Paul Beswick, Marsh McLennan’s Chief Information and Operations Officer. "With AWS and its deep experience in large-scale migrations and leading cloud capabilities, we will significantly enhance our ability to provide our clients with the power of our perspective through faster insights and more innovative solutions at the speed they need and expect.”
"Marsh McLennan is embracing the cloud to enable rapid innovation, while significantly reducing operational costs and increasing resiliency across their businesses," said Tanuja Randery, Vice President and Managing Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) at AWS. "Working with AWS, Marsh McLennan will enable deeper client insights while meeting the regulatory requirements of the financial and professional services sectors. At the same time, they will be able to scale their AI innovations and accelerate time-to-market for new services."
In support of its cloud transformation, Marsh McLennan is working with AWS to establish a Cloud University, as it continues to invest in colleague learning and development. The initiative aims to upskill and enable Marsh McLennan’s technologists to obtain AWS Certifications and build cloud expertise through instructor-led training and AWS Skills Builder programs.
