Amazon India creates over 160,000 seasonal work opportunities nationwide as festive season approaches

·       Tens of thousands work opportunities created within the growing Amazon Now network to support fast and reliable deliveries in minutes

Bengaluru 2^nd September 2026: Ahead of the upcoming festive season, Amazon India today announced that it has created more than 160,000 seasonal work opportunities across its pan India operations network that supports its ecommerce and quick commerce business. These include direct and indirect work opportunities across 400 cities in India, spanning large metros as well as tier 2 and 3 cities like Varanasi, Kochi, Jalandhar, Ghaziabad, Ranchi, Salem, Gorakhpur, and others. Amazon has created opportunities for thousands of women and associates with disabilities in its network. The new associates will join Amazon’s existing pan-India operations network helping pick, pack, ship, and deliver customer orders safely and reliably while supporting the growing demand during the festive period. Amazon has already onboarded the majority of these associates in preparation for the festive season and has begun providing them with the necessary training.

As part of Amazon’s commitment to supporting its associates, even the seasonal associates will have access to the range of safety and welfare programs and benefits that other associates have. This includes benefits like a safe, supportive and inclusive workplace, safety, financial and social security. Through its Samridhi program, Amazon will also support associates joining the company’s operations network ahead of the festive season to enroll on the e-shram portal and access other government welfare and social security programs.

Amazon India has built a strong nation-wide fulfillment and delivery network that is helping more than 1.7 million sellers serve customers across the country.The company has fulfilment centers spread across 15 states, offering over 43 million cubic feet of storage space for seller inventory; sortation centers in 19 states; along with a network of close to 2,000 Amazon-operated and partner delivery stations. Also, it has 28,000 'Hub delivery' partners and thousands of Amazon Flex partners, who are ready to deliver smiles to customers across the country.

· Social security benefits: Associates working at Amazon sites are entitled to provident fund (PF), Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and gratuity benefits, in accordance with applicable laws.

Benefits available for associates working inside Amazon buildings:

· Industry-leading infrastructure and amenities: Designed to ensure a safe and comfortable working environment for employees and associates, all Amazon facilities provide access to safe drinking water and clean washrooms. Larger facilities have air-conditioned cafeterias with adequate seating and amenities such as tea, coffee, snack vending machines, microwaves, and more.
· Onsite medical facilities: The onsite first aid (AMCARE) facilities at fulfillment centres are available to anyone needing immediate first-aid attention or rest. Associates who are unwell have access to a bed or resting space, oral hydration, heating pads, and assistance from a qualified nurse. Those requiring further medical attention are referred to a nearby hospital.
Working 5 days a week: Associates working at Amazon sites get two off days every week. Additionally, all associates are entitled to mandatory holidays, optional holidays, annual leave, sick leave and casual leave, as applicable under law.
Financial flexibility: The Early Access to Pay (EATP) program allows eligible associates to withdraw up to 80% of their accrued basic salary between the 1st and 20th of each month, promoting greater financial flexibility.

Benefits for Delivery Drivers:
Amazon recently launched ‘Sammaan’, a comprehensive welfare program for thousands of delivery associates in its logistics network. Initiatives include scholarships for the education of associates' children, enabling access to government benefits and financial inclusion programs, comprehensive insurance coverage, on-road safety measures and more.

· Insurance protection against accidents and injury: Over and above the minimum statutory requirement of ESIC, all personnel working at Amazon sites and delivery associates are covered under Group Mediclaim Insurance and Group Personal Accident Insurance. Earlier this year, Amazon expanded health and insurance benefits for nearly 90,000 delivery associates across its operations network in India. The benefits provide outpatient department (OPD) coverage for routine medical expenses, hospitalization support for inpatient care, and compensation for temporary or permanent disabilities, ensuring both immediate medical needs and income loss due to injury are covered. These benefits are rolled out to associates across all Amazon last-mile programs.
· Ashray – air-conditioned rest stops: Ashray centres are air-conditioned rest stops for delivery drivers, including those outside of Amazon’s network, to rest and recharge when they are out for deliveries. Amazon plans to expand the network to 250 centres by the end of 2026, building on its existing network across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. The company has also introduced Mobile Ashray vans—air-conditioned mobile rest units stationed at high-footfall locations to provide delivery drivers with convenient access to rest facilities. Ashray mobile vans are currently operational in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore with plans to expand to more cities this year.
