Bengaluru, February 05, 2025: Amazon India today, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Centre for Intrinsic Motivation, felicitates students and teachers from 40 government schools for the ‘Best Use of Technology in Teaching and Learning’ contest in Bengaluru. The felicitation ceremony is the culmination of the contest which was launched in 2024, as part of Amazon’s being a good neighbour charter. Designed to inspire teachers and students to adopt innovative digital tools, fostering creativity and enhancing the learning experience across schools from North, South and rural Bengaluru, this initiative has impacted over 11,000 students and 200 teachers.
As part of the Amazon School Project, educators have been adopting innovative strategies to enhance classroom experiences. One such example is Ms. Ramya, a Grade 5 Kannada teacher, who leveraged the digital tool Quizlet to help students improve their vocabulary retention. Facing challenges in keeping students engaged with traditional rote learning, she introduced interactive flashcards and gamified activities, resulting in significant improvements in student comprehension and participation. Similarly, Ms. Hegade, an English teacher in Dodakkalasandra, used PowerPoint to enhance storytelling skills among Grade 8 students. By integrating visuals and animations into their storytelling assignments, students gained confidence in expressing their ideas and improved their writing and presentation skills.
Karuna Shankar Pande, Vice President - Operations, Amazon India, said, “Technology has the potential to bridge gaps in education and create opportunities for all. Through this initiative, we aim to celebrate and amplify the innovative efforts of educators and students who are leveraging digital tools to drive meaningful learning experiences. At Amazon, we are committed to empowering communities by using technology as a force for positive change, and this initiative is a step in that direction.”
In another case, Ms. Hemavathi, a Science teacher at KPS Jumbo Savari Dinne, introduced online forms for interactive assessments. This shift from static paper-based tests to instant-feedback quizzes helped students grasp complex science concepts more effectively, leading to increased enthusiasm for learning. The success of these educators underscores how technology, when implemented thoughtfully, can transform classrooms and learning outcomes, making education more interactive and accessible.
Similarly, the Amazon’s Pratidhi Scholarship program is dedicated to supporting children of the delivery associates with financial assistance for school education. The scholarship aims to remove financial barriers and enable meritorious students to pursue their academic aspirations, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder talent and potential.
Additionally, Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) is a comprehensive childhood-to-career program that provides access to computer science education for underprivileged students since 2021. The initiative includes coding boot camps, scholarships, and mentorship opportunities, helping students build technical skills and preparing them for future careers in technology. By encouraging digital literacy, Amazon Future Engineer is nurturing the next generation of problem solvers and innovators.
