Amazon.ca Launches Wish Lists
Feature Most Requested by Amazon.ca Customers Is Now Available, in Time for Holiday Season
SEATTLE—(CNW)—October 22, 2002—Online retailer Amazon.ca (www.amazon.ca) today launched Wish Lists (www.amazon.ca/wishlist), an advanced online gift registry perfect for the coming holiday season. Amazon.ca Wish Lists are designed to help transform gift shopping into a one-stop, no-guesswork, virtually hassle-free online experience.
In keeping with the common holiday tradition of exchanging gift lists, customers can now easily create a Wish List online at Amazon.ca and automatically send the list to friends and family to simplify their holiday shopping. Any of Amazon.ca's 1.5 million books, CDs, videos and DVDs can now be added to a Wish List simply by clicking the "Add to Wish List" button on any product's detail page.
"We've introduced Wish Lists in response to overwhelming demand from Amazon.ca customers," said Marven Krug, general manager for Amazon.ca. "In keeping with the ease and simplicity of shopping at Amazon.ca, items can be added to a list from their product detail pages, at any time during the shopping experience."
Customers can also add personal comments to their Wish List, highlighting favourite items or identifying gift selections for different family members maintained on one master list. Gift-givers can search for a Wish List by its creator's last name or e-mail address, and can add items from the Wish List to their Shopping Cart with just one click. Amazon.ca will ship the gift directly to the Wish List's owner.
Wish Lists can also provide gift-giving guidance for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.
In addition to launching Wish Lists, Amazon.ca today introduced Listmania®, a feature that allows customers to create lists of their favourite products and display them for others. Listmania is a fun way for customers to highlight their favourite products and help other customers find and discover what's available on Amazon.ca. Creating a Listmania list is easy--simply click the "Add your list" link that appears in the Listmania section of any page of search results, and begin adding products from Amazon.ca's Books, Music, Video and DVD Stores.
