Amazon’s Renewable Energy Projects in Canada
As part of its efforts to meet The Climate Pledge, a commitment to reach net-zero carbon by 2040, Amazon is on a path to powering our operations with 100% renewable energy by 2025—five years ahead of our original target of 2030.
In 2020, we became the world’s largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy, reaching 65% renewable energy across our business.
We’ve announced two major renewable energy projects in Canada in 2021:
The country’s largest solar farm, a 375 megawatt (MW) project that will bring Amazon's combined renewable energy capacity in Canada to more than 1 million megawatt hours (MWh), enough to power more than 100,000 Canadian homes.
An 80 MW solar project that will produce over 195,000 MWh of renewable energy, enough to power more than 18,000 Canadian homes.
