LONDON March 16 2005: Brit actor Clive Owen is the star movie fans would most like to see slip on a tux and step into Pierce Brosnan's shoes in the next Bond film, Casino Royal, due for release at the end of 2006.

10,000 Bond fans voted in the Amazon.co.uk and Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com) poll, and Oscar-nominated Clive Owen, was the overwhelming choice to become the sixth 007 taking nearly a third of the votes (31.9%) in the survey.

However, nearly 25% of those polled didn't want Pierce Brosnan to be replaced at all and voted for the Bond veteran to reclaim the part of the world famous British secret agent.

A host of other names have been put forward over the last few months for the coveted role. British stars who have been tipped for the part in the poll included Orlando Bloom, Jude Law and Ewan MacGregor, alongside Hollywood heavyweights such as George Clooney and Russell Crowe.

Owen's recent Academy Award nomination for his role in Closer in the best supporting actor category has propelled him into the top ranks of British stars in Hollywood. Film fans obviously think he has what it takes to drink martini's 'shaken not stirred', whilst single-handedly saving the world from a host of power-crazy villains.

Rikki Price, DVD Editor at Amazon.co.uk comments: "The excitement and speculation around who will win the Bond role has really intensified over the last few months. Our poll shows that movie fans definitely think another suave, dark-haired Brit should land the role, but it remains to be seen who will win the chance to charm their way through the next picture in the inimitable Bond style."
