October 31, 2011:
Luxembourg, 31 October 2011: Amazon.co.uk's Christmas Store opens today, Monday 31st October, and Amazon.co.uk is predicting that 'Cyber Monday' – the UK's busiest online shopping day – will be Monday 5th December. The highest volume of customer orders are expected to be placed at 9pm.
"In recent years, the first Monday in December has been Amazon.co.uk's busiest day with orders for over 2.3 million items being placed on Monday 6th December last year," said Christopher North, Managing Director of Amazon.co.uk Ltd. "Mondays remain the busiest shopping day in the run up to Christmas, but every day of that week will see high sales as more and more people have immediate access to shop online via home broadband and, increasingly, mobile devices."
Monday 12th December is also predicted to be a day of high demand as customers are increasingly comfortable with ordering nearer to Christmas.
Amazon's revolutionary reading device, Kindle, is expected to be a bestseller on 'Cyber Monday' and throughout Christmas with the all-new Kindle – the smallest, lightest, fastest Kindle ever – currently appearing most frequently on customer Wish Lists.
