Slough – 10th July 2011: Amazon.co.uk Ltd is to open a 700,000 sq ft fulfilment centre at Towers Business Park in Rugeley.
The centre will begin fulfilling customer orders from September and more than 900 permanent and temporary jobs will be created at the site before the end of 2012.
"The centre at Rugeley will play an important role in fulfilling orders for customers in the UK, Europe and all over the world," said Arthur Valdez, Vice President of Operations, Amazon.co.uk Ltd. "We have a busy Christmas coming up and look forward to assembling a team of talented people who will play their part in ensuring that customers receive the millions of items that will be ordered over the festive season."
Amazon will also open a 1 million sq ft fulfilment centre in Dunfermline before the end of the year creating 750 new permanent jobs and 1,500 temporary jobs during peak periods, whilst a new customer service centre in Edinburgh, which opens in August, will create a further 900 new jobs.
Amazon.co.uk Ltd currently has six fulfilment centres in UK – Glenrothes and Gourock in Scotland, Swansea Bay in Wales and Marston Gate, Peterborough and Doncaster in England.
All available roles at the new Rugeley fulfilment centre will be highlighted on the Amazon.co.uk careers site (www.amazon.co.uk/careers) and Amazon will also be working closely with local recruitment agencies.
