‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ outsells ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ by more than 2 to 1 to become the bestselling book of all time at Amazon.co.uk
EL James surpasses 4 million print and Kindle book sales at Amazon.co.uk
Luxembourg: 1st August 2012 – Harry Potter has been casting a spell over the nation since 1997 but today, Amazon.co.uk announced that EL James’ Fifty Shades trilogy has outsold the seven book Harry Potter series, making EL James the bestselling author of all time at Amazon.co.uk. James has sold in excess of 4 million copies of her books in print and on Kindle since they went on sale in March 2012.
JK Rowling’s final book in the Potter series, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, has also been knocked from the top spot as it is revealed that ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ is now the #1 bestselling book of all time at Amazon.co.uk, outselling ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ by more than 2 to 1.
“If JK Rowling was the literary phenomenon of the last decade then EL James looks certain to take that mantle in the current decade,” said Gordon Willoughby, Director EU, Kindle. “In just four months, EL James has become Amazon.co.uk’s biggest selling author of all time which is truly remarkable when you consider that we’ve been selling books for almost 14 years.”
EL James’ Fifty Shades books continue to top the bestseller chart in print and on Kindle at both Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.
