Prime Video adds LUCIFER to extensive library of leading original and exclusive shows, including Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award winning Transparent, the critically-acclaimed Mr Robot, Michael Connelly cop drama Bosch, newly released Hand of God, Norse hit drama Vikings, time-travel smash Outlander and Victorian thriller Ripper Street
New drama LUCIFER will be available for unlimited streaming in early 2016 as an exclusive premiere
for Amazon Prime members in the U.K.
London – 23 October, 2015 - LUCIFER, starring Tom Ellis (Miranda) as the eponymous charming, yet devious fallen angel in this new Warner Bros Television series, will launch exclusively for Amazon Prime members in the U.K. after Prime Video secured streaming rights to the drama from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, available to stream in early 2016 when the show launches in the U.S. on FOX. From Jerry Bruckheimer Television, LUCIFER is based on the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint.
“We’re very excited to bring another high-profile, highly-anticipated show exclusively to Amazon Prime customers in the UK. Tom Ellis’ legion of UK fans will be thrilled to see him in this dynamic lead role, and Lucifer will introduce UK audiences to their next favourite show available alongside Prime Video’s extensive raft of original and exclusive TV shows,” said Chris Bird, Film & TV Strategy Director, Amazon Video UK.
LUCIFER is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar (Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement when a violent attack on someone he knows shakes him to the core, forcing him to consider whether some deep-buried compassion might be about to surface. As the story of what happened that night unfolds, Lucifer is compelled to work with LAPD homicide detective Chloe Dancer (Lauren German, Chicago Fire) who, despite being immune to his irresistible charms, is intrigued by Lucifer’s talent for drawing out people’s secrets. More used to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness and an uneasy partnership of sorts emerges. Meanwhile, God's emissary on Earth, the angel Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside, Suits), has been sent to L.A. to convince Lucifer to return to Hell, but with the City of Angels at his feet and a newfound purpose, Lucifer's having too much fun to go back now.
LUCIFER also stars Lesley-Ann Brandt (The Librarians), Kevin Alejandro (Arrow), Scarlett Estevez and Rachael Harris (New Girl). Jerry Bruckheimer (CSI series), Jonathan Littman (CSI series), Tom Kapinos (Californication), Ildy Modrovich (Necessary Roughness, Californication), Len Wiseman (Sleepy Hollow, Underworld films) and Joe Henderson (White Collar) serve as executive producers. Lucifer is the latest in a line of adaptations based on DC Entertainment titles from Warner Bros Television, following Arrow, The Flash and iZOMBIE.
