Amazon Fire TV customers can now catch-up with their favourite ITV content on demand

ITV Player joins over 3,000 channels, apps and games now available for Fire TV devices

The ITV Player app is also available on the all-new Amazon Fire TV, which ships to UK customers on 5th October

Luxembourg, 1st October, 2015—Amazon today announced that ITV Player is now available for Amazon Fire TV streaming media players—including the all-new Fire TV. The ITV Player app will provide Fire TV users with easy access to the extensive catalogue of content available from ITV’s family of channels.

“The launch of ITV Player on Fire TV is great news for our customers,” said Jorrit Van der Meulen, Vice President, Amazon Devices EU. “ITV Player adds to the growing number of third-party apps available for Fire TV and offers our customers easy access to sports, documentaries, news and soaps from ITV’s world-class catalogue. We’re delighted to welcome ITV Player to the Fire TV platform and look forward to adding even more partners in the coming weeks and months.”

Paul Kanareck, ITV’s Director of Online, said: “We are delighted to have launched our VOD service on Amazon Fire TV devices. At ITV, we are witnessing a clear surge in viewing on connected TV platforms, so we have worked hard to improve our product and content offering viewed on larger screens. Amazon Fire TV devices showcase our content brilliantly, and gives our users another great way to access their favourite shows, so we are happy to extend our reach onto this new platform”.

Since launching in the UK almost a year ago, Fire TV has proven hugely popular with Amazon customers, becoming Amazon’s top-selling device category. Fire TV Stick has become Amazon’s fastest-selling device ever. As sales have accelerated, so has the content within Fire TV’s open and growing eco-system, with over 3,000 channels apps and games now available—including Netflix, Amazon Video, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, Demand 5, Curzon Home Cinema, Sky News, Spotify, Ministry of Sound Radio, Prime Music, Vevo, Plex, MUBI, YouTube.com, and more.

ITV Player will be available at launch for the all-new Fire TV, which ships to UK customers on 5th October. The all-new Fire TV comes with support for 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) and adds a range of new features, including 75% faster processing, best-in-class 802.11ac MIMO Wi-Fi, 2x more efficient video encoding with HEVC and Mayday Screen Sharing, as well as customer favourite features such as voice search that actually works, Advanced Streaming and Prediction (ASAP) and X-Ray for Movies and TV Shows—all for just £79.99.

ITV Player is available, starting today, on the first generation Fire TV. The app will also be available on the all-new Fire TV when it starts shipping on 5th October, and support for Fire TV Stick will be coming later this month. In addition, ITV Player will be replaced by The ITV Hub, the new digital destination for all ITV channels and online services, when it launches later this year.
