“Customers love Black Friday. For many, the day now marks the start of the Christmas shopping rush in the UK, offering a chance to pick up must-have gifts at great prices,” said Christopher North, Managing Director, Amazon.co.uk. “We have been asked whether we believe that today will be the biggest sales day ever. We will have to wait and see but we are certainly ready if it is with more distribution centres, more stock, more deals and a large team of talented people ready to fulfil the highest levels of demand.”
In addition to the thousands of deals offered directly by Amazon, hundreds of British businesses selling on Amazon Marketplace are also participating in Black Friday Deals Week for the first time. This means that customers benefit from an even larger selection of deals whilst sellers have the opportunity to reach the many millions of customers who shop on Amazon.co.uk during the busy Christmas period.
Some of the bestselling Black Friday Deals Week 2015 offers to date include Acer Notebooks, Smart trikes, Melissa & Doug children’s toys, The Woody Allen Collection DVD boxset, Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 1-7 Blu-ray boxset, Melitta coffee makers, Kipling luggage sets, New Balance trainers, diamond necklaces, freshwater pearl earrings and Akribos men’s watches.
As well as the Black Friday Deals Week offers on Amazon.co.uk, selected deals are available through Prime Now, Amazon’s app that offers one-hour delivery to Prime customers. These offers are available to eligible addresses in London, Birmingham and Newcastle from 8am to midnight.
Last year, Black Friday overtook Cyber Monday for the first time ever as Amazon.co.uk’s busiest day. More than 5.5 million items were sold on Black Friday 2014 (Friday 28th November), at a rate of 64 items per second and sales on Amazon.co.uk peaked at 8.29am.
Amazon has been heavily investing in its UK infrastructure throughout 2015 to be ready for what is expected to be its biggest Christmas on record. This has included the opening of two new fulfilment centres in Dunstable and Doncaster. Amazon now employs more than 10,000 permanent employees in the UK.

About Amazon Devices:
Amazon Fire—Fire sets an entirely new standard for a tablet under £50, with a rating of 4.4 stars from over 1,700 customer reviews on Amazon.co.uk. It comes packed with a quad-core processor, 7” IPS display, front- and rear-facing cameras, up to 128GB of expandable storage, and delivers a world-class entertainment experience, with access to over 38 million songs, movies, TV shows, books, apps, and games. Fire also comes with exclusive features like X-Ray, ASAP, and Second Screen, and is great for watching movies, playing games, reading books, listening to music, and more—all for just £34.99 this Black Friday.
Fire Kids Edition—Amazon’s new Fire Kids Edition is built from the ground up for kids. Fire is built around three ideas—kids break things, parents don’t want to worry about the bill and kids want a real tablet, not a toy. Fire is a real, quad core tablet, and comes with a kid-proof case as well as a 2-year worry-free guarantee, so if anything happens, parents can return it and we’ll replace it for free—no questions asked. A year’s access to Fire for Kids Unlimited content offers thousands of books, videos, educational apps, and games that have been curated for age-appropriateness, and with parental controls, parents can manage which content their kids can access and for how long.
Fire TV Stick—Fire TV Stick is Amazon’s fastest-selling device ever, and combines powerful hardware with access to over 3,500 channels, apps and games, including Amazon Video, Prime Video, Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Demand 5, UKTV Play, Curzon Home Cinema, YouTube.com, Spotify and many more. Fire TV Stick includes a dual-core processor; dual-band, dual-antenna (MIMO) Wi-Fi; and exclusive features like X-Ray for Movies & TV Shows and Advanced Streaming and Prediction (ASAP), which learns what Amazon movies and TV episodes you want to watch and buffers them for playback before you hit play.
