Sports stars make up half of this year’s top ten including titles from Guy Martin, Steven Gerrard, Geraint Thomas and AP McCoy

Three comedians - Sue Perkins, Chris Evans and Paul O’Grady - also battle for the top spot

London, 9th December 2015: With Christmas present buying in full throttle, Amazon.co.uk reveals that When You Dead, You Dead,by extreme motorsports enthusiast and TV presenter, Guy Martin, is currently in the lead as the bestselling celebrity autobiography.

Martin’s memoirs provide behind-the-scenes access to an adrenaline-fuelled life that few will ever be able to experience first-hand, perhaps accounting for his top place positioning and over 100 five-star customer reviews on Amazon.co.uk. Guy Martin is also the only author to make a reappearancein the bestseller list, with his first life story,My Autobiography,at number 10.

Taking the runner-up spot this year is My Story, by former Liverpool and England captain, Steven Gerrard. Following Alex Ferguson’s My Autobiography andThe Second Half by Roy Keane as the latest in a long line of successful football autobiographies, Gerrard gives an emotional account of 28 years at his hometown club.

With the success of British cycling this summer, it’s no surprise that Geraint Thomas’ epic efforts to help Chris Froome win this year’s Tour de France has put him firmly in the peloton, with The World of Cycling According to Gin seventh place.

British comedians may yet have the last laugh, however, with Sue Perkins in third place, Chris Evans in sixth and Paul O’Grady in eighth. These tales of laughter and tears continue the tradition of homegrown funny men and women featuring prominently in the bestseller lists with John Cleese, Graham Norton and Stephen Fry in 2014 and David Jason and Jennifer Saunders in 2013.

“Celebrity stories make great Christmas presents – who can resist delving deep into the life of their favourite star?” said Alison Forrestal, Books Director, Amazon.co.uk. “Autobiographies by sports stars and comedians are consistently popular gifts year after year. In 2014, the battle of the bestsellers saw Guy Martin, Roy Keane, John Cleese and Graham Norton go head-to-head, with Guy Martin’s My Autobiographycoming out on top. Just like last year, it appears tales of sporting achievement will trump witty memoirs this Christmas, with Guy Martin on course to take the nation on yet another white-knuckle adventure.”
