’The Modfather’ of British music to play an Amazon secret show on Saturday 16th May
Special performance to be filmed and made available exclusively to Amazon Prime members on Prime Instant Video
The Great Escape Brighthelm venue to be taken over by Amazon Student, with a full three-day line-up of up-and-coming talent
Luxembourg, 8th May 2015: Paul Weller will play an Amazon Music exclusive show on 16th May, at a top-secret venue as part of Brighton’s The Great Escape festival.
Amazon Front Row Live: The Secret Show is a one off event with the iconic former frontman of The Jam, The Style Council and multi-platinum selling artist in his own right. Weller will play a set including tracks from forthcoming album Saturns Pattern, which will be released in the UK on 18th May and is available for pre-order in digital, CD and vinyl formats now. The gig will be a chance for fans to hear his new material performed live, ahead of a slated appearance at Hyde Park’s British Summertime in June and Weller’s UK tour, kicking off in November.
“I like the fact that The Great Escape showcases new and fresh music across all venues in Brighton as a festival,” comments Paul Weller. "It’s always good to perform in smaller venues and I’m looking forward to playing some new tracks."
“We’re delighted to be delivering music fans such an exceptional experience at this year’s The Great Escape,” added Steve Bernstein, Director of Amazon EU Digital Music. “The chance to be part of music experiences like The Amazon Secret Show make the festival one of the most exciting weekends on the music calendar. We can’t think of anybody better than Paul Weller to help celebrate the 10th edition of this fantastic festival for music lovers.”
The Great Escape wristband holders can register for a ticket, but with only a few hundred free tickets made available for the secret intimate venue, tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and festival-going fans are encouraged to sign up quickly. Festivalgoers who register their details over at The Great Escape website will receive details in due course of where and how tickets canbe collected on the day of the Amazon Front Row Live: The Secret Show. Fans can keep up-to-date with the latest news by following @AmazonMusicUK on Twitter, Amazon Music UK on Facebook or by visiting www.amazon.co.uk/TheGreatEscape.
This special show will also be filmed to be made available exclusively to Amazon Prime members through Prime Instant Video.
In addition, it has been announced that Amazon Student, Amazon’s membership programme created especially for higher education students, will be taking over the Brighthelm venue at The Great Escape. Amongst 18 artists slated to perform at the Amazon Student Stage over the weekend are pop prodigy Shannon Saunders and Swiss electro outfit Kadebostany. A full three-day line-up for the stage is detailed below. Amazon’s reveal follows a successful stint at the Brighthelm venue at The Great Escape 2014, where artists including Laura Welsh, We Were Evergreen, Lizzo and Wild Cub performed.
Amazon Student gives UK higher education students who sign up at www.amazon.co.uk/joinstudent a six-month free trial of Amazon Prime delivery benefits and Prime Photo storage, and then the opportunity to convert to a half-price yearly full membership for just £39 to gain access to services including Prime Instant Video, Kindle Owners’ Lending Library and Kindle First.
“Students are famed for their instinct for great live music,” said Charlie Caroe, Amazon Student Manager at Amazon.co.uk. “This year the Amazon Student stage at the Brighthelm will deliver an unbeatable festival experience in what’s one of the most vibrant student cities in the country.”
The Great Escape 2014 saw Amazon Music host a secret gig with the Kaiser Chiefs, for what was the band’s first performance in Brighton for over six years. Lucky competition winners could get hold of tickets for the exclusive performance, which has since been made available to watch on Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service.
