Welcome to our first report into how our UK customers have shopped and the trends of 2015 so far. Please download a high res version of the full report here.
Since starting out as a bookseller in 1998, Amazon.co.uk has rapidly expanded year on year and now offers customers more than 120 million products across more than 30 stores. Choice on Amazon.co.uk has never been greater.
This report features a wealth of updates and trends from across our UK business. It covers fast growing categories like Home, Beauty and Fashion as well as key platforms like Amazon Logistics, Amazon Web Services and Amazon Marketplace on which an ever-increasing number of UK businesses of all sizes are enjoying significant success.
There is also a section dedicated to Amazon Prime. We know that customers love Prime and membership numbers continue to grow at more than 50% year on year globally. Prime was originally a delivery programme offering One-Day Delivery on millions of items. Now it offers that and much more. Prime Instant Video – the UK’s largest online video streaming service with unlimited access to over 15,000 popular movies and TV episodes – was added at the beginning of last year. Since then, one of the original programmes developed by Amazon Studios, Transparent, has become a multi-Golden Globe winning show. Customers can also access over one million songs to stream and download free with Prime Music and receive unlimited photo storage and access to over 800,000 Kindle books to borrow as part of their membership. Our commitment to making Prime even better for customers was illustrated in June, when we launched Prime Now offering one-hour delivery to selected London postcodes and again in August when Prime Now launched in Birmingham. This is just the beginning and that service will be rolled out to other London postcodes and UK cities in the future.
Preparations for the busy Christmas period are in full swing at Amazon and our next report will bring you a full insight into how customers shopped throughout the festive season.
