David Threlfall (Shameless, Hot Fuzz) joins series favourites Matthew MacFadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg, MyAnna Buring and Charlene McKenna for the much anticipated fourth series of Ripper Street, which has just begun filming in Dublin
Series Four will be available to watch exclusively on Prime Video, viewers can catch up on first three series now!
London - 11th August 2015 - As Ripper Street’s fourth outing begins filming in Dublin, Amazon today announces the addition of David Threlfall (Shameless, Hot Fuzz, Nowhere Boy) as a new series regular. Threlfall will play Abel Croker, wharfinger, villain and keeper of other men’s secrets. This follows news earlier this year that, following its resurrection of Ripper Street with series three late last year, Amazon has commissioned a further two series of the hit drama.
Fans of the show will be delighted to learn that Matthew MacFadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg all return, along with MyAnna Buring and Charlene McKenna. Fans can expect a new series of criminal and personal dramas that will revive and escalate the intense complexity of their characters’ lives.
Other new faces confirmed for series four include David Warner (The Omen, Titanic), Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter’s Neville Longbottom) and Killian Scott (’71, Calvary). Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood, Edge of Tomorrow) will appear in a yet to be confirmed role. More details of all these characters will be announced soon.
In addition to the new arrivals familiar faces also return, with Lucy Cohu and Derek Riddell reprising their roles from series one.
When Ripper Street series three launched on Prime Video last November it was streamed more than any other TV show, attracting larger viewing audiences than some of the biggest US shows on the service including Constantine, The Walking Dead and Amazon exclusive hit show Vikings. It was also the most watched first show of new customers joining the service.
Series creator and writer Richard Warlow said “From our new studio set in Ireland, it has been a delight to watch this cast reunite and grow. As these new characters’ lives take shape on the page it is a daily inspiration to know that they will be brought to life by the most magnificent troupe of actors Ripper Street has yet assembled.”
“Ripper Street is a sterling example of British drama at its best.” said Jay Marine, Vice President Amazon Instant Video EU. “The show is already a huge global hit and with the Amazon cut giving creative freedom on the episode length and the addition of even more world class talent, we can’t wait to see what season four has in store.”
Amazon stepped in to save the show in early 2014, following outcry from Ripper Street fans when the series was cancelled. With forthcoming series four on the way and series three already available for unlimited streaming, Amazon Prime members can also view exclusive scenes that aren’t being shown anywhere else!
Ripper Street Series 4 is a Tiger Aspect and Lookout Point production in association with Brown Bear Films for Amazon and BBC Worldwide. Co-produced with BBC America.
Ripper Street series four will be available through over 400 devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, Fire tablets, iPad, Android tablets, iPhone, Amazon Fire Phone, Android phones Xbox, PlayStation, Wii and Wii U, and through the web at www.amazon.co.uk/PIV.
Ripper Street Series 1, 2 & 3 are available for unlimited streaming for Amazon Prime members here. Series 4 will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Instant Video, broadcast dates will be announced soon.
