LONDON - 6th November, 2017 – Amazon.co.uk, the home of Black Friday in the UK, is preparing for ten days of Black Friday deals set to save customers millions of pounds on thousands of must-have Christmas gifts and other popular items across a range of categories. Black Friday, which falls on Friday 24th November, has become a highly-anticipated date in the UK shopping calendar and the unofficial kick off of the Christmas shopping season.

The Amazon.co.uk Black Friday Sale

This year, the Amazon.co.uk Black Friday Deals Store will be open from 00:00 on Friday 17th until 23:59 on Sunday 26th November. Amazon will have new ‘Deals of the Day' every day throughout the period, ranging from Amazon devices, electronics and pet supplies to kitchen and home & garden items. There will also be thousands of ‘Lightning Deals' - products available at a discount, in limited quantities, for a short period of time - introduced throughout the sale, with new deals becoming available as often as every five minutes. Amazon Prime members, including customers enjoying a free Amazon Prime 30-day trial, will have an exclusive 30-minute early access period to all Lightning Deals.

Customers can also shop using the Amazon App, which is designed to make shopping fast and easy. In fact, last Christmas, more than 70% of Amazon customers worldwide shopped using a mobile device. In the Amazon App, customers can find where their parcels are in seconds, use camera search to quickly find the items they want by pointing at an item or barcode, and never miss a deal by setting Watch-a-Deal alerts.

Hundreds of small businesses and artisans selling on Amazon Marketplace and Handmade at Amazon are offering thousands of deals this Black Friday, providing customers with a wide selection of items from handcrafted gifts to innovative new products. Amazon's fastest delivery service, Prime Now, will also offer special Black Friday deals to more than 30% of the UK population and provides an ideal selection of gifts, gadgets and Christmas treats which can be delivered in two hour delivery windows or within 60 minutes in selected postcodes.

"Customers tell us they love getting extra low prices so they can save on their Christmas shopping. This year we have hundreds of small businesses from our Marketplace offering great deals on their unique and creative products, making it even easier to find perfect gifts with our Black Friday sale" said Doug Gurr, Country Manager, Amazon.co.uk. "We're making Black Friday more fun than ever by holding our first ever Home of Black Friday pop up in Central London and have just released our TV advertwhich features our iconic boxes having a sing-a-long to celebrate the festive season."

Some of the most popular Black Friday deals last year included Fire TV Stick, FIFA 17 and Amazon Echo Dot. Deals available in this year's Black Friday Sale at Amazon.co.uk will be announced closer to the launch date.

Customers will be invited to explore the best of Amazon's Black Friday Sale and Amazon Prime, try their hand at a range of games to win prizes and take part in one of the many themed workshops, from foodie fun to crafts tutorials. Visitors to the ‘Home of Black Friday' can also sample new products and get advice from gifting and lifestyle experts, as well as enjoy a few extra surprises throughout the four day event.

Helping deliver Christmas across the UK

In preparation for Black Friday and the Christmas shopping season, Amazon has been investing in its UK infrastructure throughout 2017. Amazon's has invested £6.4 billion in the UK since 2010 in its UK-based research and development, head office and fulfilment and logistics infrastructure. This year, it has opened four new fulfilment centres in Doncaster, Warrington, Tilbury and Daventry. The sites are creating over 3,500 new permanent jobs from operations managers to engineers, HR and IT roles to teams handling customer orders. The sites will also create more capacity for small businesses to use the Fulfilment by Amazon service whereby they store their products in an Amazon fulfilment centre and Amazon handles the packing, shipping and customer service for orders.

Gayle Hunter, Founder of Luxelu, which sells its own brand of lifestyle products via the Fulfilment by Amazon service, said: ‘Black Friday has grown for us year on year, and it's helped us to grow our business by increasing sales and reaching new customers. We're expecting this year to be bigger and better than ever before, with more customers discovering our products which helps to build our brand in the UK and across Europe.'
