18 June 2025, London, United Kingdom: The Amazon Literary Partnership has announced the non-profit literary organisations receiving grants in 2025, as it continues to celebrate and champion budding writers of all ages and stages. After a successful expansion to the Republic of Ireland in 2024, the partnership is supporting more organisations than ever before, with 38 organisations set to receive grants across the UK and Ireland.

The Amazon Literary Partnership has been awarding grants to inspiring non-profit literary organisations, writing centres and community engagement programmes groups since it was first launched in the UK six years ago. While each has a different focus, all have a shared goal of uplifting and offering opportunities to aspiring writers at any stage of their creative journey, and empowering those from underrepresented communities to experience and contribute to the magic of storytelling through the written word.

Darren Hardy, Senior Manager of EU+UK Author Programmes at Amazon said: “We are delighted to once again be collaborating with the exceptional teams at literary organisations across all corners of the UK, and to be back for a second year in the Republic of Ireland. Now more than ever, we are immensely proud to be playing a small part in helping to nurture confidence, creativity and imagination through the art of writing. From writing workshops for young people, to literary festivals, mentorship schemes, summer schools and much more, it’s fantastic to see the spirit of storytelling fuelled and thriving in our communities thanks to the inspiring work of these organisations.”

This year’s grant recipients include continued relationships with a number of organisations such as Creative Future and Fighting Words, as well as new groups including The London Library and Stratford Literary Festival. In its second year supporting groups across the Republic of Ireland, the partnership has awarded funding to the Graffiti Theatre Company and Fighting Words.

One of the grant’s new recipients, Bristol Braille Technology CIC, will use the partnership’s funding to help run online and in-person creative writing workshops with blind and deafblind people across the country. These include support for those still learning Braille and coming to terms with Braille writing equipment, offering expertise, advice, access, and the confidence and means to create and publish amazing stories in embossed Braille.

Commenting on the impact of the grant, a spokesperson from Bristol Braille Technology said, “We're excited and honoured to be included in the Amazon Literary Partnership this year. As a company and a community we all know the vast benefits of Braille, but sometimes these can seem rather dry. This is an opportunity to remind people of the great creative potential of Braille for blind people."

One group from the Republic of Ireland set to receive support from the Amazon Literary Partnership for the second time is Graffiti Theatre Company. Aiming to champion creativity and self-expression, the organisation helps young people in Cork find their voice through a range of engaging arts programmes. The grant will go towards supporting the organisation’s creative writing workshops, holding sessions with primary school children, and weekly Write Club sessions with teenagers, enabling young people to harness the power of their imagination and build confidence and storytelling skills.

Speaking on how the funding will help support and expand their work with young people in Cork, a spokesperson from Graffiti Theatre Company said: “Graffiti supports young people's creativity, so this vital funding from Amazon Literary Partnership is transformational. It means we can bring free, fun and engaging creative writing workshops to young people who may not normally have this opportunity, in our writing studio in Cork city. Making space for young people to be creative and tell their stories also has a huge impact on confidence and personal development, whether it’s through our primary schools workshops or our teenage weekly ‘Write Club’ sessions. We’re thrilled to be able to continue our programme this year.”

The Amazon Literary Partnership is also supporting new partner Cheltenham Festivals’ Write Now mentorship programme, designed to amplify underrepresented voices, help young people tell their stories, and empower them to thrive. Aimed at supporting young people in the South West who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools and are at risk of engaging with the criminal justice system, the programme works to connect people and communities and break down barriers through words and stories. Offering writing mentors to help develop young people’s confidence and voice through creative expression, the programme will culminate in the co-curation of an event at the Cheltenham Literature Festival’s VOICEBOX.

On using the grant to support the programme, Ali Mawle, Co-CEO at Cheltenham Festivals, said: “We’re honoured to be a recipient of the 2025 Amazon Literary Partnership. At Cheltenham Festivals, we believe in the power of words to change lives. Through our Write Now programme, we’ve seen how connecting young people with storytelling and creative role models can build trust, joy and hope. This partnership will help us continue creating lasting change by platforming and championing young voices, especially for those who might not otherwise be heard.”
